Danville Driving Academy takes a different approach to driver’s education. We require smaller class sizes than a typical driver’s education classroom. It’s important to ensure your child can be comfortable in a classroom with fewer students and distractions. We want them asking questions and actively engaged in class discussions and/or labs. This is why we do not offer online classes for our students. We value the student/instructor interaction where we can assess each student’s understanding chapter by chapter. We want to be confident in your student’s abilities as they complete our program, knowing they are ready to take on Ohio’s roadways safely and responsibly, for their benefit and other roadway users.

Getting your child’s behind-the-wheel training times scheduled in a timely manner can be a challenge in traditional driving programs. This short season in a teenager’s life requires enough sacrifices. We respect that hardship on them, and on you as parents/guardians and have opted for smaller class sizes for this very reason. Fewer students means completion of behind-the-wheel training faster; getting your child in and out of driver’s education as quickly as possible.
However, with safety as our top priority, if we feel your child needs additional time behind-the-wheel with you as the parent/guardian, we will notify you, and space their behind-the-wheel drives out longer to allow for additional practice. We want to ensure your child has both the knowledge and confidence to start their driving career. The State of Ohio requires “best effort” during behind-the-wheel training. We understand this to be a result of accumulated hours at home behind-the-wheel with parents/guardians, and displayed by obeying traffic laws and signals during drives with their instructor and conducting themselves in a mature manner at all times. We reserve the right to cancel or change driving times scheduled should a student’s conduct indicate a lack of responsibility deemed necessary by Danville Driving Academy to safely operate a motor vehicle.

As a result, our program relies heavily on parents/guardians who are fully engaged in their child’s driving, keeping him/her driving behind-the-wheel as much as possible. Every minute is valuable. The experience your child will accumulate driving short distances, even a 15-minute trip running errands, can not be underestimated. The difference between a child having 2 hours of driving practice, and a child with 30 hours of practice, is staggering. Your child’s driving success depends on a strong partnership between you as parents/guardians, your child, and the driving school. We ask your child log a minimum of 15-20 hours of driving before enrolling in Danville Driving Academy as they will likely be more comfortable moving past initial worries and discomfort and familiarizing themselves with basic driving concepts under your guidance. While this is not a requirement to enroll, it will undoubtedly help them progress more smoothly through the curriculum and the behind-the-wheel training.
